FREE Sample Classes — July 22

FREE Sample Classes

Bring your child and invite their friends to come try a FREE sample dance class on Monday, July 15 and 22 2019. No experience necessary. Dancewear and shoes are not required. Available classes are listed below.

  • Tiny Tot Ballet (Ages 18 mos.-3.5): 5-5:30 p.m.
  • Discover Dance Tap/Ballet (Ages 3.5-5): 5:30-6 p.m.
  • Elementary/Intermediate Combo Tap/Jazz/Ballet (GRADES K-4): 6-7 p.m.

Students are welcome to wear dance wear or comfortable clothing. Tiny Tot students will do creative dance. Discover Dance will practice ballet and tap while the Elementary/Intermediate class will try a little bit of tap, ballet and jazz. If you have dance shoes, please bring them. If not, socks or bare feet is fine.

NEW!! Competition-Option Classes

NEW!! Competition-Option Classes

All of our Youth Tap and Jazz classes have a competition-option component. Students who register for Youth classes have the option to participate in one local competition in May 2020, when they will compete their tap and jazz routines. All Youth class students will perform in the annual Student Production in June. In addition to the regular class fee, those competing will also pay a per-person fee of $125 to cover contest entry ($90) and administrative costs ($25). Students enrolled in Youth classes do not have to compete their routine – this program is purely optional and available to students interested in experiencing the excitement of a dance competition performance. Youth classes include students grades K-6 in Elementary 1, Elementary 2 and Intermediate classes.

About the Industry Dance Awards…

The Industry Dance Awards & Cancer Benefit Show is an annual event that brings the global dance community together in celebration of creativity, industry innovation, and the fight against cancer. This spectacular event takes place at the historic Avalon Theater in Hollywood where dancers, educators, pioneers, and icons are recognized for their outstanding achievements and artistic contributions. A star-studded red carpet, brilliant performances, and a presentation from Dancers Against Cancer Foundation combine to make the IDA the most prestigious event in the dance industry.

The 9th annual Industry Dance Awards & Cancer Benefit Show has a goal to reach a minimum of 5 million dollars in donations to help support cancer­-related charities including Dancers Against Cancer.

Through a meticulous selection process that spans ten national dance competitions, four dance conventions, and the entire professional dance community, the Industry Dance Awards has the pleasure of recognizing performers and dance icons in numerous award categories. Our sponsors put a tremendous amount of collaborative effort and energy into making The Industry Dance Awards a true reflection of the passion that exists in our community. Meet Our Artistic Director

Meet Our Artistic Director

Larra Holding returns in a new and expanded role as the Artistic Director of G. Scotten Talent Center.  A dance teacher for more than 12 years, Larra has served as Troupe Director at GSTC for the past seven years. Her professional commitment to performance excellence during that time inspired troupe members to achieve countless accolades and top awards. Most recently, she led the troupe to a pinnacle of success with its selection as Tremaine’s Best Convention Performance for 2019 and a coveted Industry Dance Award Nomination for Best Convention Performance out of all participating dance competitions and conventions. Larra received her Bachelor of Science in Dance Performance from Ball State University in 2010.  During her time at Ball State, she participated in numerous performances, including Ball State University Movement Project, Ball State Dance Theater and the American College of Dance National Festival in New York City. Larra began her dance training as a child in Muncie, Indiana. She has trained under the direction of Audra Sokol, Christie Zimmerman, Michael Worcel, Lou Ann Young, Brooke Pierotti and Jill Heath. As a dance educator, Larra strives to equip students with a solid technical foundation while evoking artistry in their performance and furthering their passion for dance. As Artistic Director, Larra will develop and execute all facets of the esteemed G. Scotten Talent Center dance program.
